Wind Power...Great Idea but is it being done as effectively as it could be?
The other day I was sitting out side thinking as I tend to, thinking about a variety of things as I like to call it "Thinking about Everything at yet at the same time Nothing".
When the thought of renewable energy entered in to my mind, and something that a friend of mine mentioned in a recent discussion. About the current state of the planet's energy resources, with me arguing that the world backing away from Nuclear power because of what happened in Japan, was insane.
Considering where Japan is located and that its a country that is at the forefront of building earthquake proof buildings.
Also that its the country that gave us the word "Tsunami", meaning - big-fuck-off-destructive-wall-of-water, so where is the logic behind countries now turning away from Nuclear power?
It's the same logic, as one cameraman who films money shots for pornographic videos, (this guy would be Japan) and another who films everything on green screen for CGI effects. One of the guys is bound get his face covered in semen at one point, the other is as likely to have something as equally as horrific happen to him only if he does it to himself.
So back to the point, it was whilst I was sitting on this bench when I thought that Wind turbines are particularly ugly, and are a fairly large blot on the land scape. Plus there is the fact that they are based on a design that is centuries old. Have we the human race not moved on from wind mills, a design that was effective at the time...not so much any more I must say.
This you can actually prove by doing one thing...breathing...now this is where you will likely think I have finally lost it, but just humour me. Exhale against your hand for me, you will have to do this twice...once with you mouth open and then do it again with your lips pursed like you would to blow out a candle, using the same amount of physical effort for both blows. It becomes clear as to which one generates the most power.
So why then I must ask have millions of Pounds, Euros, Dollars and other currency been invested on wind farms that are only truly effective if the wind is blowing in one direction for sustained periods of time.
Anyone who has ever been sailing will tell you that the wind doesn't do this, the wind likes to change its direction. It does so with the same amount of frequency as a woman changes her mind over what outfit they are going to wear.
Taking that in to account why such a large amount has been invested into wind turbines that are actually doing more harm than good. This is in regards to the natural wild life, these massive blades are killing hundreds of birds a year in some cases and disrupting the natural environment. This according to many articles however this one by the Spectator, by Clive Hambler is most intriguing and makes several highly valid points:

It also states that in Germany alone the bat populations are being hit particularly hard with over 200,000 deaths per year. Now how can we even consider this to be acceptable, how are the organisations like Green Peace and other "Green" charities and organisations not up in arms about this.
I think they are too busy targeting big oil because that gives them the best press coverage, so they are basically the same as everyone else... far too vain for their own good. The thought of attacking a "Green" power plant, which is not actually as Eco Friendly as the public is being led to believe. Would be like I don't know... an American anti-gay marriage politician being caught cheating on his wife with a Transsexual...would be kinda hard to explain that to the press. Or one of the News Anchors on Fox News actually doing any research of any kind not just filling the air waves with more BS than a muck spreader.
This is not just their effect on the animal populations, lets not forget that the creation of the key part in these wind turbines. This being the Permanent magnets, the creation of which is a highly toxic process. However since these are made, according to the Institute for Energy Research (2013) (http://instituteforenergyresearch.org/analysis/big-winds-dirty-little-secret-rare-earth-minerals/) in China a country which is about as open to giving out information, as the Vatican is to informing, which of its priests like to bugger choir boys to the cops. No wonder the mainstream press have yet to get their hands on this data. But then again they might have yet don't want to get the public up in arms about this.
The fact that the creation of these permanent magnets has created lakes of toxic chemicals, that are useless and every now an then over flow. This poisons the earth and has the same effect has dumbing nuclear waste namely makes the ground dead. Allowing nothing to grow and no wildlife to enter it turning some ares of China in to toxic waste lands.
Yet no one seems to actually care...and governments are pushing ahead with building more of these turbines, which are making what the Nazi's did during WW2 in the concentration camps. Look fairly minor in to what these turbines which the blades are the same length as the wing of a 747 Jumbo Jet and are spinning at 200 mph at times. They are Giant spinning death traps, and we think that building them will actually lower our destruction of the environment...tell me when we are going to stop believing our own BULL SHIT!!!!
Is there a better way...I actually believe that there could be that wind power could be if a radical over hall of the design of these power plants was achieved to make them truly environmentally friendly.
There are a lot of highly intelligent designers out there, there are also a lot of lazy lack lustre people out there who only care about what they can achieve during their 4 years in office. Other than of course Premier Vladimir Putin, the heads of the racial and corrupt PRC, the current chubby faced member of the Kim Dynasty in the PDRK and the Islamic State sponsoring Oil Sheiks of the Middle east. Now that I have insulted most of worlds politicians and murdering psychopaths we can continue...
As I was saying there a lot of highly intelligent designers out there, but they are being highlyunder-utilised and are far too busy designing the next Apple iPhone...which will look...slightly different to the current one...and will work...exactly the same.
So why they have not been employed on an actually challenging project like re-designing the not-so-green-turbine. Is actually fucking insane, when going back to what I said before I went off topic, do remember what I asked you to do earlier???...It required blowing in two different ways on to your hand...thank god you do remember...BRILLIANT.
Now what if it were possible to design a circular tower, which would have to be fairly high as that is where the wind speeds are the highest. With not with one giant blade but several smaller openings so that when the blows it enters in feeding to tubes containing smaller turbines much like in a water driven turbine. Consider that we have already proven that the wind is made stronger when it is forced through a smaller opening. Thereby generating more power, with the same force something current turbines cannot currently do.
A construction such as this would allow these turbines to be places closer together further increasing their effectiveness and could even be installed in city centres. Those of us that have been in city with sky scrapers know that. The wind is significantly stronger in such places, so you could easily imagine these new turbines being placed in close proximity in a diamond formation.
Now this has been merely a suggestion, as to how things could be done better...after all I am not a scientist or a designer I am nought but a thinker, a drinker and a rampant questioner of any thing really...after all if no one were to ask the difficult questions, there would be no interesting answers or clever solutions.
